Ofcom have given MTV a good telling off for showing the uncut version of Rihanna's 'S and M' video before the watershed. This is not the first time the singer has been involved in an offcom argument. During the 2010 X Factor live finals, Rihanna and Christina Aguilera's sexy performances were criticised for their performance which involved them and their dancers dancing in bras, knickers and stockings. A source from ITV told the Daily Mail 'Bosses are worried about the complaints which have grown rapidly this series... It's our image as a family channel that's at stake.'

Now the media regulators have given MTV a slap on the wrist and have called for an emergency meeting with broadcasters after labelling Rihanna's video as 'highly sexualised' as it shows scenes of 'Sexual bondage, dominance and sadomasochism'

Now I know why ofcom are being so silly about this. Their argument is that these singers are strong role models for teenage girls, so when the teenagers see these famous singers, wearing very little in their videos, it makes the naive girls think that to get a guy, they have to dress in very revealing clothes to stand a chance.

Also 80% of women are unhappy with their appearance, many of them have a distorted image of themselves, and individuals level of dissatisfaction increases when they come in contact with the media. Organisations who help treat people with eating disorders have banned magazines such as Vogue and Elle because of the adverse effects they have on their patients body image and self-esteem.

My argument is that women have battled for decades to gain equality with men. Plus how often do you see a boyband with their tops off, you don't hear us complaining that it is degrading to men.

Women should be allowed to express their femininity and Independence however they want. I for one think the likes of Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Cheryl Cole should continue doing what they do... I also think Susan Boyle should keep doing what she does and not try to be sexy or there will be an increase in male bulimia.

Rihanna has insomnia!

The singing sensation Rihanna has been complaining to the people of Twitter that she is struggling to get a decent nights sleep.

The singer known for her number 1 song 'Umbrella' tweeted on her profile 'Why can't i ****ing sleep??? It's been 3 whole weeks of none to 3 hours max every single night!'

The singer has also made clear that the lack of sleep is not down to anything 'fun'.

Hopefully Rihanna will know that she is not alone when it comes to insomnia. Millions of people suffer from it, and I am pretty sure that for the males at least. She is probably the reason why most of them were up all night, and I don't just mean being awake.

If she wants some company while she is awake, Adele would happily spend time with the RnB singer. While speaking to The Sun, she admitted that she has a girl-crush on the 'S&M' singer. When Rihanna was performing on the X-Factor live shows, the 'Rolling in the Deep star explained "She had pinstripe flares on. She whipped them off and there were her stunning thighs, I said to my girlfriends 'Are you feeling a bit gay right now'"

Maybe that is why Rihanna can't sleep, she is having to keep an eye out for all these obsessed fans. Its ok though Rihanna, you're safe at the moment, I am voluntarily patrolling the outside of your home to keep you protected.
